Project Management - Wisconn Valley Groundbreaking Event

Project Date: June 28-30, 2018

It was such a great honor to be a part of this important milestone in our company, it was also a very critical period of my career at Foxconn. When I first started the project with just a team of three, we didn’t expect the event to be that grand and under the spotlight.

Duties

  • I played the role of main coordinator and project manager.

  • Wireframed and prototyped the technology showcase based on the chairman’s ideas.

  • Communicated with 20 different groups worldwide on a daily basis to grasp the details of their showcase content.

  • Collaborated with US facility owners and event companies to design and execute the event.

  • Held weekly meetings to make sure everyone was on the right track.

Challenges

  • We encountered countless difficulties and challenges over 5 months, for instance, last-minute changes to the layout design, logistics delay, etc.

  • We worked closely with Secret Service and local government on ensuring safety and public relations. Moreover, emergencies we dealt with during the event, and by handling those, it greatly improved my crisis management.

“This is better than the Museum of Science and Industry” quoted from the TMJ4 news. We had a total of 5,000 traffics in 3 days.

Key Takeaways

  • Constant communication, coordinating, and teamwork are keys to a successful project.

  • Listen to people's problems and do not jump to conclusions.

  • Work in the industry that you are truly passionate about.
